LBC: 3 trends you could never get into

I'm back from my trip to Tokyo and before I blog about it, I will participate in this weeks. Lolita Blog Carnival:
Three trends you could never get into

Tea Party shoes

I don't like flat shoes for Lolita in general, I prefer the elegant/grown up style, so this is the total opposite for me. They make the people look small or even clumsy. Of course, they are comfortable because there is no heel but Lolita is about the look, not comfort ;)

Antlers headdress

"Lolita is not a costume" That's what we always say but antlers, really? How do you explain that? I also don't like bunny, cat ears or whatever animal stuff on the head for Lolita. But these are extra creepy because they look (and sometimes they even are) real. Ugh, no thanks!

(Colourful) OTT wigs

Another hard to-explain-thing when it comes to the "Lolita is not a costume" question. They just look fake and carnival-like. I also wear wigs, but in natural colours. The twin-tail style was also never my thing. And I'd say that the two trends were around the same time?

Tried & Tested: Selfmade Mermaid Hair Wig

Maybe some of you know Tried and Tested. It's a show from online television Clicknetwork.tv and Shu An, the host, tries out several products and gives points for it from 0 to 10. She is really funny and I love her show. That's why I chose the title :)
I tried a tutorial from makochat.at, a very cool Lolita blog. She made a tutorial about How to make a Mermaid hair wig by yourself. This interested me a lot. I already have two mermaid style wigs but I bought them. One is really nice, the other one is pretty shiny. I still had a black wig that I would not wear again, the curls were not visible anymore so before throwing it away, I wanted to try this.
First of all: my wig was not of very good quality. Not much hair but I wanted to try nevertheless. I wasn't even sure if the wig melts when I put hot water over it :D But everything worked out!

That's the wig when it was still new with some light curls. I wore it twice and after that I brushed it with a normal brush and yeah... it was destroyed ^^"  Unfortunately I forgot to make more pictures during the process, like the braids but I made them pretty small, so I had around 18? I lay the wig into a pot and then put the hot water over it. Wrapped it into a blanket and then let it dry over the night.

This morning I opened the first braid to see if it worked out and yes, It worked!  The wig was already dried and I opened the rest (left photo) I think bigger braids would have been prettier, the waves are really small. Right is when I brushed it with a wig-brush. I think I have to alter it a bit and brush it out more, looks very messy like this ^^"

So my conclusion: if you have a wig that needs a make-over and you like the mermaid style: Try this out! Next time, I will make bigger braids for bigger waved but I'm really satisfied with the result!

One year later...

We all know that Usamimis were very popular last year in Japan. So with them, it's like with many trends. Last year, they were huge in Tokyo and Japan and one year later, they're slowly coming to Europe/ Germany.
Last year, there was also one pink-black dotted Usamimi at h&m and a floral one from Primark. But two weeks ago, I went shopping and saw Usamimis everywhere: new ones at h&m, but also Monki, Tally Weijl and New Yorker!!
Although I don't think they become a trend here (most German girls don't wanna have cute bunny ears on their heads ;D), they are nevertheless here. The price range is from 3 to 6€ which seems to be okay, but the variety is not that good.

I can't wait to see the first cancan hats in stores here ;D

My five cents

I you read Gyaru blogs like universal-doll.com for example, you will be informed about the fall/ winter trends 2010/2011. But nevertheless I wanna pick up a few and give my opinion of them.

Fur
I have a very ambivalent feeling about this trend. Fur application on boots or hoodies are super cool and I love it but those monster fur boots like the ones in the picture are absolutely horrible @_@ Especially in this picture, they look totally ridiculous! Cute summer clothing, short skirts and then Yeti's feet? No, thanks!!

Fur II - Foxtails
I always wanted to have a foxtail. My bf's little brother won one at the fun fair but he wasn't willing to give to me as a present *haha* Now I bought my own via ebay and it's so fluffy (I'm gonna die ;D) ♥♥. It's pretty big, too, so maybe I will buy another one which is shorter but aww~ I wanna touch it all the time ^_~ No matter if you apply it on your bag or shorts/pants. It's always an eyecatcher!

Overknee boots
Okay, not a new trend but yeah~ I love overknees! Especially those which are made of buckskin or look like buckskin ^_~ They look cute to shorts, but also over skinny jeans! I should get a pair of overknee boots but without high heels, too! More comfortable for long shopping trips

Nordic pattern
At first I was like "uuurgghhh...UGLY!" because I immediately thought of christmas pullovers with snowflakes and deers on them =D Now that I see cute scaves, dresses and tank tops, I begin to like than trend. Liz Lisa (one of my favourite gal brands ^_~) has a really nice collection with nordic pattern!

Leopard pattern
I think it's nearly impossible to kill that pattern in Gyaru fashion. I LOVE leo but please not too much of it >_< I've seen several fur leo jackets this year. Last year there was one at h&m but I've NEVER seen someone wearing it.. maybe this year? Germany is always a bit later with fashion trends =D

This was a quick overview! I'm going to post more here in the future, I think. I almost forgot about that blog the last months ^-^"
